Cromlix House Hotel, Kinbuck, Scotland

Wimbledon champion and local hero Andy Murray owns this classic Scottish manor house. The country pile, just outside Murray's home town of Dunblane, is due to open on April 1, no fooling. Andy bought the hotel with his brother Jamie; the boys fell in love with the Perthshire pad after Jamie got married there four years ago. Its near neighbour is the impressive Gleneagles, which hosts the 2014 Ryder cup.  Cromlix is a somewhat more modest offering with only 10 rooms and 5 suites but no less luxurious and you can play Laird of the manor here equally well.  Expect trout fishing, grouse shooting and tartan-wearing. The food is definitely fit for a champion created by the legendary chef Albert Roux (of La Gavoche fame).

The hotel will be managed on Murray's behalf by Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI), which already manages eight other independent properties around Scotland, including Inverlochy Castle, near Fort William, Greywalls Hotel in Gullane and The Atholl, in Edinburgh.
